August 2015
I hope you enjoyed your summer as much as I did. I went sailing, spent time at the beach, perfected some yoga poses and read A LOT of books. Speaking of books, how did you like your summer reading? We'll spend some time these first two weeks talking about the characters, ideas and literary style in these terrific texts. You'll need to have your class supplies in hand NO LATER than Friday, August 28.
Assignments:
Resources for your reading/writing assignments and study aids will be posted on the web page for your class (IB English III or English IV AP). Please check your class page regularly for announcements and reminders. Use the Downloads tab to get copies of important handouts. The Resources tab will lead you to important sites that can help you with research, style guides and writing strategies.
AP Students--Get Your Copy of How to Read Lit Like a Professor ASAP!!!!
You will need a copy of How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas Foster. You may ask one of your friends who took my IB class as a junior last year to loan or sell you their copy at a discount. Or, you can check Half Price Books for a used copy. Amazon or Barnes and Noble will also have this text. This essential book is a big part of the first six weeks of our class, so please have your copy in hand by Friday, August 28th.
