Supplies
Each student should have:
- A large (1 ½ or 2 inch) 3-ring binder for class notes, handouts, etc.
- Tab separators for sections in the binder
- 3x5 inch note cards (400 will carry you to the end of the year)
- Three highlighters of different colors
- Pens (black or blue ink only) and a composition book
- A copy of How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas Foster
Course Overview
The mission of the AP IV class is to gain a deeper understanding of the human condition through the study of literature and the exercise of thoughtful conversation and writing. The texts we study will allow us to look at way in which people can develop a sense of purpose and a structure of ethical behavior. The ultimate purpose of literary study is to help us extract meaning from experience and enjoy a life well-lived. Here's a brief overview of the lineup for our course this year.
